Post a message to a newsgroup

Composing a newsgroup message is like writing an e‑mail message, but you're writing for a larger audience. Instead of sending the message to a small group of recipients, the message is posted to a public newsgroup and can be read by anyone who subscribes to that newsgroup.

Keep in mind that before you can post a message to a newsgroup, you must subscribe to that newsgroup. For more information, see Subscribe to a newsgroup.

1. Open Windows Mail.

2. In the Folders list, select the newsgroup you want to post a message to.

3. On the toolbar, click New Post.

4. Type the topic of your message in the Subject box. Windows Mail can't post a message that doesn't contain a subject.

5. Compose your message, and then click Send.

Notes

To send your message to multiple newsgroups on the same news server, click the icon next to Newsgroups in the message composition window. In the Pick Newsgroups dialog box, click one or more newsgroups from the list (hold down the CTRL key to select multiple newsgroups), and then click Add. You can choose from all newsgroups, or only those you subscribe to, by clicking Show only subscribed newsgroups.
