Prevent newsgroup messages from automatically downloading

If you click the title of a newsgoup message in Windows Mail, the newsgroup message will be automatically downloaded to your computer. Some newsgroups contain lengthy messages, so you might want to turn off automatic downloading when browsing through certain message lists, particularly if you're using a dial-up connection to the Internet.

1.     Open Windows Mail.

2.     Click the Tools menu, and then click Options.

3.     Click the Read tab, and then clear the Automatically download messages when viewing in the Preview Pane check box.

Notes

• If you turn off automatic downloading, you can download the contents of any newsgroup message by clicking the title of the newsgoup message in the message list and then pressing the SPACEBAR.
