Though Windows Mail is used as the default e‑mail program by web browsers and other programs that support sending e‑mail, you can choose a different e‑mail program as the default. If you decide you want to change the default e‑mail program back to Windows Mail, you can do so at any time.
On Windows 10
1. Right lick the Start button, and then click Settings. In the Windows Settings window click Apps, and then click Default apps.
2. Under Email, click the e‑mail program you'd like to use, and then click OK.
On Windows 8.1 or Windows 7
1. On Windows 8.1, right click the Start button, and then click Control Panel. On Windows 7, click the Start button, and then click Control Panel. In the Control Panel, click Programs, click Default Programs, and then click Set program access and computer defaults. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. Under Choose a configuration, click Custom.
3. Under Choose a default e‑mail program, click the e‑mail program you'd like to use, and then click OK.
