Windows Mail Restore Options

Options on this page allow you to restore Windows Mail application on your computer. For example, it may be necessary after an automatic updates or restoring your operating system. See also Restore Windows Mail after Windows 10 automatic updates chapter of this user manual.

Check and restore Windows Mail system components and files on Windows startup

If this option checked, the WM Restore Tool automatically restores Windows Mail components and files on Windows startup. To change this option, administrator privileges are required. We recommend you to enable this option on Windows 10 computers, see also Restore Windows Mail after Windows 10 automatic updates chapter of this user manual.

Check and restore Windows Mail user components on Windows startup

If this option checked, the WM Restore Tool automatically restores necessary Windows Mail components for the current user account on Windows startup. We recommend you to enable this option on Windows 10 computers, see also Restore Windows Mail after Windows 10 automatic updates chapter of this user manual.

Click to restore Windows Mail components and files, reinstall language packages and register Windows Mail as the default MAPI client. Administrator privileges are required. Alternatively, you can use the Reinstall Windows Mail command on the Tools tab, on the Ribbon.

The Restore Windows Mail (Reinstall Windows Mail) procedure includes the following actions:

Checking and restoring Windows Mail and Windows Calendar files integrity.
Registration of necessary classes and interfaces.
Registration of Windows Mail and Windows Calendar applications in the operating system.
Registration Windows Mail as Mail and News client.
Registration Windows Calendar as Calendar client.
Registration the required file extensions and protocols in the operating system.
Checking and restoring Windows Mail and Windows Calendar language packs (*.mui files).
Registration Windows Mail as the default MAPI client.
Installing Windows Mail, Windows Contacts and Windows Calendar shortcuts in the main menu and on the desktop.

Notes

When restoring Windows Mail components and files (when installing the software, on Windows startup or when using Restore Windows Mail command), 2 log files are created. See in the Options and Logs chapter of this user manual.
